Our Journey with Packaging Circus: Redefining Sustainable Packaging Design

The packaging industry is changing, and sustainability is in the spotlight. Companies all around are embracing eco-friendly solutions, and one company stands out – Packaging Circus.
We had the chance to work together on designing an innovative packaging solution for The Skinfluencer.

More about Packaging Circus

Packaging Circus is a design and innovation consultancy that focuses on sustainable packaging design. Founded in 2016 by the sisters Laura Haberkorn and Sandra Tennemann, the company has quickly gained a reputation for their innovative and sustainable solutions. They have collaborated with a range of clients across various industries, from cosmetics to food and beverage.

One of their clients, The Skinfluencer had launched a new line of skincare products and were looking for sustainable packaging solutions. That’s why Packaging Circus contacted us. Because The Skinfluencer’s motto is: “as much as necessary, as little as possible.” It starts with the ingredients and ends with the packaging they use.

“Sustainability is a holistic concept. It goes beyond the
eco-friendliness of a product, or a packaging, it is about changing entire businesses so that we can create smarter systems that are either circular in their approach or more efficient. In that sense, it is also important to build meaningful relationships and collaborations that allow for better solutions. Working with Grown bio feels like a perfect fit as we share the same values and a common vision for a sustainable future.”

Sustainable Design Journey

Our team worked closely with Packaging Circus to develop a packaging design that not only met the necessary requirements but also aligned with the client’s sustainable design principles.  They aim to make science-backed skincare accessible to all, without compromising on safety or ethics. Transparency is their priority, providing you with clinically tested ingredients and avoiding empty marketing claims.
Together, we designed a packaging that would not only capture attention but also make a positive impact on the planet.
Our mycelium packaging is all about minimizing waste and maximizing resource efficiency and replacing harmful materials like styrofoam and single-use plastics.

The process was super smooth and uncomplicated, and we are extremely happy with the final result.
We ‘re very looking forward to our next collaboration”

This is how it all started: from the 3D design to the final result!

Mycelium is the ultimate packaging solution

What sets mycelium packaging apart from other sustainable solutions is its use of a renewable resource. This means it’s not only minimizing the harm to our planet by avoiding the need for example tree cutting or oil extraction, but it also ensures a truly sustainable approach from start to finish. And here’s the best part: mycelium-based packaging is 100% compostable! After use, you can simply toss it in your compost or garden. Mother nature will take over from there, breaking it down naturally and turning it into valuable nutrients for the soil.

A shining example

It was inspiring to see a company that was so committed to eco-friendly solutions and willing to go the extra mile to ensure that their designs were not only aesthetically pleasing but also environmentally responsible. Their commitment to sustainable solutions is a shining example for other companies to follow.

“By teaming up with Packaging Circus, we showed that style and sustainability can go hand in hand.”
Christina Thurner, Grown bio

At a time when our planet is facing numerous environmental challenges, it is important that companies take responsibility for their impact on the environment. Our collaboration with Packaging Circus was a great learning experience, and we look forward to working with them on future projects.

Thanks Laura and Sandra 😊
